"Warrior in Pink" chosen for inclusion in the American Cancer Society's "Models of Life- Breast Cancer in Western Massachusetts"

Janice's "Warrior in Pink" will hang alongside other paintings, photographs, sculptures and more in an exhibit created by and for breast cancer survivors.  The painting will be sold after the close of the exhibit will a portion of the proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Children's books-

Springfield, MA- Mother-daughter team Janice Treece Senter and Crystal Senter Brown will present a series of children's books called "Mama and Me."  The books will follow the relationship of a little girl and her mother, as her mother introduces her to various cultural events and programs in the community.  The first book "Mama and Me- Go to the Museum!" will be published in Nov. of 2008.

 


 

 "Sunday morning" chosen for book cover-

Springfield, MA- Poet/ Author Crystal Senter Brown has chosen "Sunday Morning" to adorn the cover of her new book "Doubledutch".  The book will be sold on online booksellers and through Crystal's website.  Nikki Giovanni calls "Doubledutch" A book every young woman should read.

 

 

 

 


 

"Middle passage" chosen for CD cover-

Amherst, MA- Voices for the Voiceless has chosen Janice's "Middle Passage" for the cover of the Voices for the Voiceless spoken word compilation.  The cd is available across the US and online.


 


Janice receives Luis Reyes Rivera Lifetime Achievement award

Amherst, MA- Joining a line of prestigious artists, writers and community activists, Janice has received the Luise Reyes Rivera Lifetime Achievement award.  The award is given out yearly.

 




Janice donates painting for Omar Payce Gala Silent Auction

Springfield, MA- Janice's painting "Hope" was successfully sold at auction to benefit the American Cancer Society's programs and services. 

 

 

 

Janice's illustrations used to teach Black History in Public School System

 School systems in the Northeast received free copies of the children's book "Adonte and the Magic Kite" for Black History month.  Janice provided the illustrations for the book and served as a consultant in the story-writing process.  The book is currently under review by a major children's publishing house, with a possible re-publication in the winter of 2008-2009.
